HOOP HOUNDS
The Greyhounds will officially begin the task of repeating last year’s run to the state semifinals on Thursday when they host Cross Creek. The work toward preparing for that and a varied early-season span kicked up a notch last week with the continuation of practice.
The Greyhounds will be without three starters from last year with the graduation of Daethan Harris and Jaylen Sanford as well as the transfer of Judd Anderson. A full cast of characters also keyed last year’s historic run, however, and some of them are on track to return. That list includes Kaden Douglas and Jaden Stanley along with Rudy Bowen.
Jones County, in a region where four other teams are ranked in the top 10 of AAAAA in at least one ranking, will welcome stout competition next weekend for the Hooping In Middle Georgia Tournament.
JCHS will also host Peach County Nov. 14, play a pair of games Nov. 17-18 in the Ricky Moore Invitational in Augusta and in the HypeSouth Boys Tournament Nov. 25 in Warner Robins. That will lead into the region opener in Nov.
28 at Union Grove.
