Nipper, Haskins corral top finishes on short tracks

There’s a bit of travel involved in the spring and into the summer on the local shorttrack -racing circuit for nearby drivers seeking checkered flags on Saturday nights.

Even so, a pair of local hotshots have found a high measure of success.

Chaz Haskins recently took a fifth-place finish in street stocks at Cochran Motor Speedway, following up three straight wins in the bomber class at Senoia Raceway.

If there’s an example of a driver seeking out different tracks of which to succeed, Jordy Nipper is a prime case.

So far in 2025, he has raced in 14 feature events at 11 tracks, posting 11 top-10 finishes with eight top-fives, along with claiming a limited late model win this spring at Senoia.

A good part of Nipper’s runs has come in the super late model division and its cars with more powerful engines. He has placed fourth at Buckshot Speedway in Clanton, Ala., sixth in Waycross, third at Winder-Barrow, second at Sugar Creek Speedway in Blue Ridge to go with a pair of recent late model finishes of fifth at Cochran and fourth at famed Dixie Speedway near Woodstock.
