Whether it was as tournament hosts or by way of their own teams taking part, Jones County played a role last week as the summer little league all-star tournament circuit continued.
Two different all-star teams from Jones County took part in the double-elimination sectional round. In the Rookie Baseball sectionals held at Dudley Little League, Jones County was among the four teams by virtue of their runner-up showing in the district tournament. Jones County fell 12-6 to Harris County and 9-7 to Columbus American.
In the Coach Pitch sectionals, held at Western Little League in Macon, Jones County fell 9-3 to Harris County before a late rally fell short in a 16-14 loss to Peach County.
Last week saw different locations across the district host sectional tournaments, and Jones County was no different, hosting the four-team Sandlot sectionals won by Columbus Little League.
