Richter added to Manning Award Watch List

ALUMNI UPDATE

The watch list for the award presented annually to college football’s top quarterback now includes a former Greyhound.

Toledo quarterback John Alan Richter, who has thrown for 2,244 yards and 17 touchdowns for the Rockets this season, was announced as having been added to the award’s watch list on Friday. Richter joins a list that includes Trinidad Chambliss of Ole Miss, Gunner Stockton of Georgia, Sam Leavitt of LSU, Arch Manning of Texas, Darian Mensah from Miami, Michigan’s Bryce Underwood, and Ohio State’s Julian Sayin.

Richter has spearheaded the Rockets to explosive offensive numbers in his first season as the full-time starter, including a 439-yard game against Temple earlier this season that helped him earn Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors. Toledo beat Western Michigan 45-38 on Saturday to improve to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play. The Rockets play at Sacramento State on Nov. 4.
