GREYHOUND BASEBALL
The Greyhounds boast a rarity among many high school baseball programs with a trio of left-handed pitchers – Brody Gordon, Dawson Harris and Bo Mansfield. Their presence gives the Greyhounds a unique advantage over opposing lineups who may prefer to face more right-handed hurlers, and Gordon State College appears to want that sound southpaw edge.
The left-handed trio made it official last Friday, signing a letter of intent with the nearby JUCO program as they were flanked by coaches and others key to their careers with other friends and family nearby, too.
Both at home and on the road, the three won’t be far from Jones County. Not only is Gordon State’s campus in nearby Barnesville, but conference opponents for the upcoming season include in-state teams like East Georgia, South Georgia State, Georgia Highlands, Andrew and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
