Two runners from Jones County’s Park & Recreation track program came back from the weekend’s GRPA state meet as state champions.Anderson Whiting won the javelin in the boys 13/14 age group with Travis Miller winning the 100-meter dash in the boys 13/14 age group.

Last week provided the final chance for JCHS track and field athletes to get in strong showings before the region meet April 30 to May 2 at Ola. Top finishers there will advance to sections, which will qualify for the state meet May 9-11 in Carrollton.

The Lady Greyhounds saw their season come to an end on the GHSA Class AAAAA girls state tennis tournament last week, losing to Harris County 4-1.And although there’s a degree of letdown for any season coming to its conclusion, there’s plenty of excitement around the Lady Greyhounds tennis program.

The messages have been pretty much non-stop for Takeo Gray. A 1998 JCHS graduate and former player and assistant coach for the Greyhounds, he was announced last Tuesday night as the Lady Greyhounds new head basketball coach.

Community meet & greet with new coaches

JCHS will host a community meet and greet with both of its new head basketball coaches at 7 p.m. April 23 in the JCHS cafeteria. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and hear from both Takeo Gray and Willie Reese.
