Thanks to outstanding individual efforts and the fact that middle school runners can compete in JV high school events, some future Greyhounds have been making huge names for themselves state-wide.

Tennis teams advance to state

Both JCHS tennis teams headed north last week to the region tournament. The result? Showings for both that qualified them for the state tournament. The Greyhounds placed second with the Lady Hounds third, good to earn state tourney berths.

Hodges tapped as new DBs coach for Hounds

The Greyhounds football program has its new defensive backs coach. Jones County announced last week that Clay Hodges, formerly the defensive coordinator at Veterans, will take over the role of coaching the Greyhounds secondary.

West inks college scholarship

The all-time leading scorer in the history of Jones County football now has a college home. Evan West, who officially graduates in May, officially signed to play football at Ave Maria University, as announced last week.

Lady Hounds stand strong in loss to top-ranked McIntosh

PEACHTREE CITY – Facing top-rated McIntosh, the Lady Greyhounds knew that a creative and out of the ordinary game plan would be needed to keep the game close. The Chiefs are year in and year out among the state’s best, and this year’s squad is no exception, so slowing them down was a tall task.

Dyer advances in gymnastics

Jones County gymnast Kenneedie Dyer scored enough individual points to qualify for the State tournament April 8 in a fiveteam meet at the Newnan School of Gymnastics training facility.

Annual golf fundraiser set for May 1

The Jones County High School golf program will host its annual Greyhound Day/Night Scramble on May 1 at Lake JonesCo Golf Course. The event is a two-man scramble format with a cost of $50 per person that includes golf, dinner, a glow ball, prizes and range balls.
