Not only will the Volley Hounds play in the state tournament for the first time ever on Saturday morning, but they'll do so against a familiar opponent.
Saturday's first-round match against Perry is set for 10 a.m. at the JCHS Gymnasium. The Lady Hounds (30-8), who are seeded seventh in the 32-team GHSA Class AAAAA field, beat the 26th-seeded Panthers on Sept. 29, winning 25-19 and 25-22.
A win Saturday by Jones County could draw another familiar opponent. That winner would face either Ola or Arabia Mountain in the second round, scheduled for next Wednesday. Jones County beat Ola in both meetings during the season.
Jones County would travel to Ola if it advances to the second round while it would host if the second-round opponent is Arabia Mountain.
Per GHSA postseason admission guidelines, season passes and student IDs will not be accepted for entry. Each individual must purchase admission.
