19th Annual Kids Fishing Derby

Sponsored by Macon Water Authority. Saturday, March 2, at Javors Lucas Lake, 150 Broach Lane off Upper River Road. This MWA Kids Fishing Derby is free for all kids, ages 3 to 16. Immediately after the weigh-in, kids and adults are allowed to fish for free for the rest of the day, until closing at 5:00 p.m. No fishing licenses are required. Prizes will be awarded for the overall biggest catch of the day, as well as for the top three catches in four age group categories – ages 3 to 5, ages 6 to 9, ages 10 to 13, and ages 14 to 16. Refreshments also will be provided.

On-site registration begins at 6 a.m.; fishing begins at 7 a.m.; weigh-in to determine biggest catches of the day starts at 10 a.m.

Walk With the Cross

Saturday, March 9, 9:30 a.m. They will follow the cross as it is carried from Carol’s Park to the sidewalk in front of Ingles, then back to Carol’s Park. This is a silent prayer walk for the souls of Jones County. All are invited to come and walk.

Book Sale

Saturday, March 9, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 273 Railroad Street in Gray, building next to JCHS track. 1000’s of books and audio visuals of all types for all ages.

Incredible prices. Some are even FREE! FEATURE OF THE MONTH – MYSTERY. Sponsored by JC Friends of the Library.

Women in Mission annual yard sale

Gray Methodist Women in Mission annual yard sale will be Saturday, March 2, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Gray Methodist Church, 121 Gordon Street. Funds raised will support Women in Mission throughout the year.

Mount Salem Missionary Baptist Church

The Mount Salem Baptist Church, 159 Cleveland St., Gray, would like to invite you to their annual Family and Friend’s Day on Sunday, March 17, at 11:15 a.m.

JC Pilot Club Scholarship

Applications for the Miriam Ethridge Pilot Club of Jones County Scholarships are currently being accepted. Two $1,500 scholarships will be offered for the 2023-2024 school year.

Applications for the scholarships are available to any high school senior who is a resident of Jones County. Application forms may be obtained from the Counselor’s office at Jones County High School, or any of the following locations in Gray: Jones County Public Library, Ace Hardware, Exchange Bank, Magnolia Bank, Morris Bank and Cadence Bank.

The deadline for receiving applications is Friday, April 12, 2024. Please direct any questions to Esther Foster, 478-986-7589.

CASA Volunteer Training

Ocmulgee Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) will hold a new volunteer training every Monday and Wednesday, January 29 - March 6, from 1-4 p.m. at the Putnam County Administration Building, 117 Putnam Drive in Eatonton.
