James Bland has been around courts most of his adult life. Though there have been two different types, the common theme is that he has been successful and influential in both.

The Kiwanis club recently donated $2600 to the Eston Altman Scouting Center of Jones County. President, Darrell Partee and Kiwanian Charles Newberry made the presentation to Mrs. Brandy Spires, representing the scouting center. The donation represents some of the proceeds from the Francis Golson golf tournament. CONTRIBUTED

CALENDAR OF COMMUNITY EVENTS

Saturday, April 12, 10 a.m. at Carol’s Park. A quiet walk from Carol’s Park to Ingles then back to Carol’s Park. As the cross is carried, it will be followed silently praying for the souls of Jones County. All are invited to attend this Easter prayer event.
