The Jones County Public Library welcomed Sheresa A. Stubbs, a local author, to read her new children’s book July 29 that deals with what it can be like making new friends in a new city when moving. Stubbs said she lives in Middle Georgia, and she taught in Jones County a long time ago.

AOC Matthew Blake Belflower is the local veteran of the week. He is a 2003 graduate of Jones County High School. He joined the U.S. Navy in September of 2003. During his career, he has been deployed to Persian Gulf four times.

Ambi Rae Boutique and Allure Beauty Bar will have their grand opening Saturday, Aug. 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., providing clothing and beauty to the community of Jones County. Both businesses are located at 109 Atlanta Road in downtown Gray. Ambi Rae will be open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.

Scenic Byway a main attraction for Jones County

The historic scenic byway that begins in Gray and runs through Jones County farm and forest lands has recently been a topic for public meetings for the first time in more than a decade.

City gets clean audit; water fund posts a loss

Gray’s meeting of all committees took place at an earlier date and time in order to receive the audit report for 2021. Mayor Pro Tem James Collins called the July 13 meeting to order in the absence of Mayor Ed Barbee. The first report was from Finance Chairman and Councilman Terrell Fulford.

Jones County Animal Services signs pardon with Shane’s War to get animals adopted

Shane Smith, who started the pardon of Shane’s War in 2011, brought the pardon back to the Jones County Animal Services from July 18 to 23 to gives animals in the shelter another week’s time from euthanasia and to get them adopted to forever homes.

First responders appreciated with dinner, awards

Jones County celebrated its Fire Rescue volunteers with an appreciation dinner that included 320 years’ worth of service awards and department promotions. The July 23 event was once again held in the auditorium of Bradley Baptist Church, and it was catered by Gay’s Food out of Moultrie.
