Gray Station Middle School recently displayed projects of its Featured Independent Research Exhibitions (FIRE), which were year-long assignments for gifted students at the school.
GSMS students, parents, Board of Education members and students from the Jones County School System elementary schools were invited to view April 14 exhibition.
Katherine Mullis, a seventh-grade English Language Arts teacher at GSMS, said the topic of the projects were chosen by the students.
“They chose something that was a passion in their lives and then they worked all year analyzing the data,” she said.
Mullis said the projects were on display in the school gym the entire day.
“The students worked hard using the skills they will need for their academic achievement in the future. This was an opportunity to showcase and highlight what they had done.”
