As the school year draws to a close, Jones County educators are making sure students are prepared for dangers that can be a close as the phone in their hands. Nineth graders at Jones County High School heard a presentation April 30 concerning human trafficking and how easily they can fall into to the trap of being victimized.

GES succeed with Kids Heart Challenge

This year, Gray Elementary School raised $2,149.70 for the American Heart Association through Kids Heart Challenge (KHC). Our top three fundraising students were Aiden Allen, Mallie Morris and Charley Jackson.

GA 811 visits Gray Elementary

On February 7, 2024, Georgia 811’s mascot, Digger Dog and Ms. Maria, visited Gray Elementary School, in Gray, Georgia, encouraging students in 2nd and 3rd grade to “know what’s below and contact 811 before they dig.” Sharing safety information and having a bit of fun, Digger and Ms. Maria explained the importance of not damaging underground utility lines by digging safely, how to be safe near overhead power lines and what to do if the power lines are down. They also demonstrated the smell of natural gas and what students should do if they smell it. Digger and Ms. Maria also discusses what the colored flags and paint on the ground represent and that students should never move the flags.
