Book Sale
The Jones County Friends of the Library will have their monthly book sale Saturday, May 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Jones County Pre-K Building E, 173 Railroad Street. Books for all ages cheap. All proceeds go to the Jones County Library.

Navy veteran recounts close shaves

Roger Hawke served more than 20 years in the United States Navy, but he never faced life-threatening situations then as he did in civilian life years later.Hawke, who turned 73 last week, entered the Navy in 1970 and served a total of 24 years, including almost 21 in active duty.

Jones County Fire Department Station 1 on Highway 49 will be having a spaghetti dinner May 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.Each plate includes spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert and tea for $8. Walk-ins welcome. Dine-in or carryout.
