A Macon man was arrested and faces charges of possession with intent to distribute after being observed taking part in a drug transaction.
Devondrae Marquez Harper, 34, was arrested July 18 after failing to comply with a traffic stop and for having illegal drugs in his vehicle.
Jones County Investigator Barron Hall said he and Lt. Gerry Nelson were in the Joycliff Road area and observed Harper during a drug transaction. Hall said Harper was known to have an outstanding warrant out of Bibb County. The officers waited for him to pull away after the drug transaction to perform the traffic stop.
The investigator said he attempted the traffic stop, but Harper did not stop. He said Nelson was able to get ahead of the suspect, and they boxed him in at Baker Road.
Hall made note that, when Harper got out of his vehicle, he still had a marijuana blunt in his mouth. The investigator said additional units arrived at the scene including JCSO deputies Matthew Dennis, Chris Patterson and Sgt. Kasey Carr.
Hall said Carr and his K9 partner walked around the vehicle. After the K9 alerted, the vehicle was searched, and meth, more marijuana and ecstasy pills were found inside.
Harper’s Bibb County warrant was for armed robbery, and he is currently being held without bond.
