The cases were presented April 11 by Ocmulgee Circuit District Attorney T. Wright Barksdale, Assistant District Attorney Cara Fiore, the Jones County Sheriff’s Office and Gray Police Department.
The charges included drugs, aggravated assault, kidnapping, rape, armed robbery and home invasion.
Among those indicted were Cedric Walter Whitehead, who was arrested Feb. 12 and charged with trafficking in ecstasy, possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana. He was also charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of drug related objects.
Whitehead’s codefendant, Denika Lashae Stanley, was also charged with trafficking in ecstasy and possession of a firearm. Their arrests were the result of a traffic stop by Gray Police Department Officer Daniel Pointer.
Ethan Christopher Gardner was indicted in two cases, the first for false imprisonment and criminal damage to property in the second degree and the second kidnapping, criminal damage to property and simple battery family violence.
Gardner, 17, was arrested Feb. 17 by Gray Police Officer Josh Josey. The officer’s report states he met with the complainant at the Jones County Sheriff’s Department in reference to damage to property.
Josey said the victim told him the couple had been arguing for several weeks, and the arguments had gotten physical. The complainant said she wanted to leave but was not allowed. She said she was able to get into her car, but Gardner got in with her.
After several attempts, she was able to get away and meet with a friend who brought her to the sheriff’s office. The officer said, following the interview, he returned the victim to her car and took pictures of the damage allegedly done by Gardner. He then went to the courthouse and secured warrants for suspect’s arrest. Gardner was arrested later that day but released Feb. 20 on a $9,000 property bond.
Gardner was arrested again March 17 by JCSO Deputy Matthew Johnson, whose report states he was dispatched in reference to a domestic dispute. When he arrived, he spoke to several victims who talked about a fight over a gate and Gardner not allowing them to leave the property.
The dispute included damage to a vehicle, battery and kidnapping when he allegedly busted a window of the car to remove one of the occupants.
