First responders were remembered by a local ministry with a free lunch and prayer service, which were both intended to remember the sacrifices of 9/11 and show appreciations for what they continue to do every day.
The lunch was served Sept. 11 at Carol’s Park by the Team KBOMIN ministry that hosted the event. Ministry leader Debra Hall said it was the first time for the event, and she was happy with the number of first responders who attended.
“We didn’t really know what to expect as far as turnout, but we were very pleased,” she said in an email about the event.
Hall said there were veterans and first responders who attended for the free lunch and a time of prayer. She said volunteers with the ministry mingled among the group to offer individual prayers, and a good number took advantage of the offer.
“The Lord really blessed us with perfect weather, and there was truly a spirit of love and joy in the atmosphere. Our guests just don’t know how much they blessed us by attending,” she said. “It was an honor and a privilege to show our thanks and appreciation for our local heroes.”
The leader went on to say those heroes deserve the community’s deepest respect for answering the call of the unknown with no regard for themselves, which is what they do every day. She said the event was a special time for members of the ministry to have to opportunity of getting to know the men and women who attended.
