Man shot multiple times in Haddock; info sought

SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

Last week’s shooting in Haddock is an ongoing investigation with the shooter still at large.

Jones County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Kenny Allen is the lead investigator in the case. In a Friday afternoon interview, Allen said officers were dispatched to the scene on Highway 22 in Haddock Oct. 4 at approximately 9:30 p.m. in reference to a shooting.

He said the house where the shooting occurred is in the area of a local chain store. The captain said when deputies arrived, they found the 32-year-old subject had been shot multiple times.

Allen said the victim was immediately transported by ambulance to the trauma center for treatment where he underwent surgery and is now in stable condition.

“He was very lucky,” the captain said.

Allen said the victim was conscious and alert when officers arrived.

“He was able to give us information related to the shooting, and we are currently following leads,” he said.

The captain said investigators do have a person of interest in the case.

He said the shooting took place outside of the house, and he added that JCSO deputies are familiar with the address where the incident took place.

“We are still receiving information about the shooting,” Allen said.

The JCSO is asking anyone with information about the incident to call 478-986-3489 or information can be submitted anonymously using the new Jones County Sheriff’s Office app.
