“And he said unto them, Where is your faith? ” (Luke 8:25)

Jesus told the disciples to get into a boat and cross the lake (Lk 8:22-25). Jesus, being tired, went to sleep in the back of the boat while the disciples sailed the craft. Several of the disciples were seasoned fishermen, experienced in sailing the Sea of Galilee. While they sailed, a fierce storm erupted, so fierce that it frightened these experienced sailors. Jesus, however, remained asleep, and the disciples out of fear, woke Him crying “Master, carest thou not that we perish?“ (Mark 4:38). Jesus then commanded the storm to stop and instantly it ceased. Turning to the astonished disciples He asked, “Where is your faith?” Because of this storm, the disciples’ faith grew and Jesus was glorified.

1. The disciples were where Jesus had told them to be--in the boat on the lake. Sometimes Jesus will have us to be where a storm will arise.

2. Jesus was in the same boat as the disciples. Jesus will be in our storms with us. He won’t forsake us.

3. Although it may seem at times that God is asleep in our storms, He is not. He is fully aware of what we are facing.

4. While we may be afraid of the storm, Jesus is not.

5. While we have no power over the storms, Jesus does and any quell any storms that come our way.

6. If Jesus allows a storm into our lives, it will always be for our good and His glory, somehow, someway.

Have faith in Jesus. If you are where He has told you to be, you can rest in Him no matter the storm, no matter how fearful the situation may be.
