JONES COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
On the heels of the arrests of two juveniles for attempted armed robbery, two more teenagers were arrested for underage possession of firearms.
Dorian Rumph and Tytravuis Holloway, both 17, were arrested on the charge Sept. 14.
A report of the arrests by Jones County Deputy Kevin Harden stated he was dispatched to a residence on Bethune Avenue at approximately 3 p.m. about three males, possibly with firearms, messing with the homeowner’s vehicle.
Harden said when he arrived at the scene, he made contact with the teenagers as they were walking away. He said he stopped and spoke with them until Sgt. Travis Walker arrived to assist in searching the subjects.
The deputy said Walker found a Taurus 9mm with an extended mag in the left front pocket of Holloway. He said the weapon was removed, and Holloway was placed under arrest.
Harden said he was standing by with the two other teenagers while Walker performed the search. He said while he was searching the other teenager, Rumph took a seat on a small brick wall.
The deputy said he saw that Rumph had dropped a pistol in the flower bed behind the wall he was sitting on. He said Rumph was also placed under arrest. The third teenager had no weapon and was released from the scene.
The attempted armed robbery arrests of two juveniles that involved a shooting where one of the juveniles was wounded in the arm, took place on Ruby Drive, Sept. 12. The locations are but a few blocks apart.
A report of those arrests is on Page A1 of this week’s edition.
