A defendant facing multiple charges, after being arrested in a stolen vehicle, entered a guilty plea to the charges against her in Jones County Superior Court.
Angel Lee Chastain Robertson, 30, entered her plea Dec. 14 and received a total of 15 years on probation for the charges of theft by receiving stolen property, possession of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm during commission of felony.
She was also banished from the Ocmulgee Judicial District for the duration of her sentence.
Roberson was arrested Nov. 1 by Jones County Sheriff Office Deputy Chris Shurley. In his report of the arrest, Shurley stated he received a flock camera alert about a stolen vehicle at approximately 10:30 p.m. Oct. 31, while on patrol on Griswoldville Road. He said due to his location, he decided to try to cut the black Acura off at the intersection of Hendersonville Road.
The deputy said after not making contact, he traveled west on Griswoldville Road toward Highway 49. He observed taillights in the distance and caught up with the Acura that was then traveling westbound.
Shurley said he pulled behind the vehicle that had quickly turned into a driveway and cut off its lights. He identified the car as the stolen vehicle.
The officer said, before he could get out of his car, the driver took off running up Griswoldville Road and disappeared into the wood line.
The front seat passenger, identified as Roberson, stayed with the car. Shurley said he informed JCSO Deputy Jeff Sullivan, who was responding to the location about the fleeing driver, but he was not able to make contact.
Shurley said he made contact with Roberson and instructed her to get out of the car. He put the passenger in the backseat of his car after clearing her of contraband and informed her that she was occupying a stolen vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Quinton “Bino” Johnson.
The deputy said a clear glass pipe connected to a colored pipe was sitting in clear view in the center cup holder. He said the pipe was easily identifiable as being used for smoking methamphetamine and still had a good amount of the product present in the bowl.
Shurley said he and Sullivan searched the vehicle and found several blank cards not belonging to either of the car’s occupants in the center console. Another glass pipe was found, and a Taurus G2C firearm was located in a bag belonging to the passenger.
The deputy said the trunk contained a pocketbook not belonging to Roberson or Johnson. He said another bag was found in the backseat containing clothes and random items suspected to be stolen.
Shurley said the vehicle was confirmed with Bibb County as being stolen.
Warrants were secured for Johnson, the driver, for charges of theft by receiving stolen property, possession of methamphetamine, financial credit card theft and driving while license suspended.
