Violent re-offender to serve 10 years

Another chapter in the saga of a violent Jones County offender played out in superior court last week with the result more prison time for the repeat criminal.John Wayne Childers, 49, was revoked to serve 10 years in prison March 6 following a probation revocation hearing.

13-year-old pedestrian dies on Eatonton Highway

A 13-year-old lost her life crossing Eatonton Highway Saturday, despite all efforts by medical and rescue personnel.Rylee Baird was pronounced deceased on the scene March 8 by Jones County Deputy Coroner Wayne Greer. The time of death was listed as 7:27 p.m.

ATLANTA - Sports betting struck out again this year in the General Assembly.The state House of Representatives passed 75 bills Thursday in the daylong flurry of activity known as Crossover Day, the annual deadline for legislation to clear either the House or Senate to remain alive for the year.
