American Legion makes donations, presents awards

Gray American Legion Post 142 recently held its Christmas party with good food, good friends and reports of its good works for the community.The Dec. 18 event was held at the American Legion Post building located at 314 Old Clinton Road. The American Legion now welcomes all veterans to join.

U.S. House passes Laken Riley Act

ATLANTA - The U.S. House of Representatives has passed Republican-backed legislation named in honor of Georgia murder victim Laken Riley as the first act of the new Congress.The Laken Riley Act requires detention of illegal immigrants charged with nonviolent crimes including theft and burglary.

North Georgia snowstorm lesson in early preparation

Georgia emergency management officials and motorists appear to be heeding the example of "Snowmageddon" - the snowstorm that paralyzed the state in 2014 with hours-long traffic jams and multiple collisions.
