Sheriffs speak about their role in communities

Many of Georgia’s elected officials and a majority of the sheriffs in the state were in Jones County last week for the salute to Georgia’s sheriffs.The annual event celebrated its 11th year, according to Jones County Sheriff Butch Reece, who is the originator and hosts the event every year.

JCSO drug unit makes trafficking arrest

An ongoing undercover drug investigation led to the arrest of an Acworth man on a trafficking and distribution charge.Christian Orlando Gonzalez, 38, was arrested Sept. 30 and charged with the purchase, possession, manufacture and distribution of marijuana and the trafficking of methamphetamine.
