Forsyth Antiques and More, an antiques mall that sells more than just antiques, is open for anyone looking to shop in the area and find something unique.The antiques mall is located at 816 U.S.Highway 41 in Forsyth, and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Stolen vehicle found before being reported

A Jones County Sheriff’s Deputy recovered a stolen vehicle last week before it was reported missing.Deputy Jarrod Elrod said he was monitoring traffic with a LIDAR unit Aug. 1 about 6:30 a.m. on Highway 18 East when he clocked a vehicle coming from the City of Gray traveling 77 mph in a 55 mph zone.

Jones County’s first ice cream shop opened last weekend with an enthusiastic welcome from the community.Cone Crazy on Main officially opened for business at 11:30 a.m.Saturday, Aug. 3. The ice cream shop is located at 123 W. Clinton Street in Gray and is owned by Paige and Billy Horne.

The Jones County Tax Assessors’ Office undertook a full re-evaluation of some 16,000 parcels of real property this year, but the reassessments produced only a small number of appeals and will apparently not delay the setting of a tax millage for the upcoming fiscal year.

Vineville Internal Medicine cuts ribbon at Gray office

Vineville Internal Medicine celebrated its new office in Gray with a ribbon cutting jointly sponsored by the Jones County/Gray Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Gray.The July 25 event took place at the newly renovated office building located at 147 James Street, next to the Gray Police Department.
