The Jones County Board of Education was the first government entity in Jones County to set its 2024 tax rate at a called meeting last week with a result that is good news for taxpayers.Board Chairman Ginger Bailey called the Aug. 15 meeting to order with all board members in attendance.

Armed robbery plea nets multiple life sentences

As the trial of three codefendants charged in multiple crimes in 2023 – including armed robbery, aggravated assault and a home invasion – draws closer, one of the two brothers charged entered a guilty plea last week in Jones County Superior Court.

July’s indictments included a young man whose attempt to elude a police officer was thwarted by Flock cameras in the City of Gray.Cody Daesun Song was indicted by a grand jury July 19 for one count of felony fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and one count of speeding.
