The Jones County News salutes the local Veteran of the Week

Xrthur McConnel is the local veteran of the week. He spent the war in a Navy submarine. His first sub was the USS Nautilus, on which he was aboard during the battle of Midway. He said the vessel was built in 1944 and was twice as large as a typical submarine.
