Hounds aim to repeat as region champs this weekend

Since early August, the season has been building toward this weekend for Jones County on the cross country course. On Saturday morning, both the Greyhounds and Lady Greyhounds will look to repeat as region champions. Their likely adversary will be Union Grove.

Parker tapped as Macon TD Club Lineman of the Week

Greyhounds nose tackle Jamarion Parker has been named the Macon Touchdown Club OrthoGeorgia Lineman of the week for his play in Friday’s 35-28 win over Dutchtown. He had 17 total tackles for Jones County in the win, two for a loss to go with one sack and two quarterback hurries.

Man sentenced to 20 years for shooting deputy

The offender who shot a Jones County deputy in January of 2022 received a sentence of 20 years to serve following a guilty plea in Jones County Superior Court. Zachary Lucas Olivar entered his plea of guilty to the offense of aggravated assault on a peace officer but mentally ill Oct. 12.
