Lowe receives BSA Golden Eagle award

Gray Police Chief Adam Lowe was honored last week by the Boy Scouts of Central Georgia and the community he has served for almost three decades. Lowe was presented the Golden Eagle Award by the Jones County Friends of Scouting at a reception in his honor Oct. 12 at Butler Hall.

DDA considers more updates to Butler Hall

The Gray Downtown Development Authority is wrapping up the year with repairs and updates and looking toward the 2024 budget. The Oct. 9 meeting was called to order by Chairman Sherri Rollins, and the first item of business was the financial report.

Health Department prepares to move into renovated building

The Jones County’s Board of Health met perhaps for its final time until moving back into its newly renovated building. The Sept. 20 meeting was called to order by Vice Chairman Leslie Coleman in the absence of its chairman, Ed Barbee, who continues to recover from surgery.

Barbee back to business at city council meeting

Gray City Council members tended to important business at their October meeting, but the most exciting part of the evening was the return of Mayor Ed Barbee. Barbee called the Oct. 2 meeting to order for the first time since the city’s May 1 meeting.

Cameras alert deputies to car with accused murderer

A flock camera alert for vehicle violations resulted in the arrest of a suspect wanted in a Bibb County murder case who was a passenger in the car. Terrial Deshon Dean Jr., 21, was turned over to Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Deputies Oct. 1 at the scene of traffic stop on Joycliff Road.
