Not many government meetings conclude with a celebratory air, but last week’s meeting of the Jones County Board of Tax Assessors did just that.Board Chairman Dr. Leigh Stanford called the April 2 meeting to order, and board member Joe Rutledge led the opening prayer and pledge.

Another dirt road side-by-side accident proves fatal

A Milledgeville man lost his life last weekend after being thrown from a side-by-side after losing control of the vehicle on a dirt road.Jordan Dewayne Norville, 40, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident by Jones County Deputy Coroner Wayne Grier.
