Carr ready to lead Clifton Ridge as new principal

Changes for the new school year included the appointment of Stacy Carr as principal of Clifton Ridge Middle School, and she plans to keep the school running tightly as always. The principal said she lives in Bibb County, and moved there when she was in the fifth grade from Indianapolis.

Jones County Library Park officially open to visitors

The Jones County Library held their ribbon cutting on Wednesday, Aug. 2 to officially open Library Park for people in the Jones County community to have a place to sit outside as they enjoy their library time.

BOC listens to budget requests, mulls options at workshop

Jones County Board of Commissioner members came together to consider the 2024 budget last week and heard the needs of department heads one by one. The Aug. 5 budget workshop was called to order by Board Chairman Chris Weidner. All commissioners attended the meeting that started at 8:30 a.m.

School Nutrition Dept. plans for the school year

The Jones County School Nutrition Program has lots of new things happening as they gear up for the 2023-2024 school year to provide meals to students in Jones County and keep students eating healthy options.

Suicide Prevention Coalition working to expand ranks

Jones County Suicide Prevention Coalition members reviewed the programs of the past school year and looked forward to plans for the upcoming school year at their July meeting. The July 25 meeting was led by Giuliana Larosa with Augusta University and held at the Jones County Library.

Prayer Walk visits high school ahead of students

The third annual Prayer Walk at Jones County High School, sponsored by the school’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes group, once again doubled in attendance.
