Meeting of committees goes on with 2 members

The City of Gray’s all committees meeting was a bit sparce with only two of the six usual members in attendance. The May 15 meeting was called to order by Mayor Pro Tem James Collins, and the only other member there was Councilman David Tufts.
Scott Walston, owner of Gray Memorial Chapel, and his business were honored by the Jones County Club for his support of and contributions to the service club which have assisted the club in supporting projects and agencies in Jones County that benefit children. President Durrett Childs presented the plaque and thanked Scott for his service and financial support since he has been a member of Kiwanis. CONTRIBUTED

Jones County showed up for the May 19 ribbon-cutting celebrating the opening of Rancher’s, located at 615 Landmark Pointe Blvd. in Gray. The 7,000-squarefoot convenience store and fueling station opened it doors to customers May 18. Rancher’s is owned by Dylan and TJ Heath (center). The store is the third business in phase one of Landmark Point, following Scooter’s Coffee Shop and Suds Bucket Car Wash. For more information about Rancher’s, call 478-607-2484. Defendant avoids multiple life sentences with plea

The theft of a television set resulted in a 15-year sentence for a defendant with a long history of felony convictions. Marlon Jamel Hoskins entered a guilty plea in Jones County Superior Court May 18 to a crime that took place May 5, 2022.
