Marker installed at East Juliette community

Jones County History and Heritage dedicated a historical marker in the Juliette Community April 13. The site of the marker is near the East Juliette Community Cemetery on J. H. Aldridge Road, located just off Round Oak/ Juliette Road.

First medical cannabis dispensaries open in Georgia

Two medical cannabis dispensaries are open for business in Georgia, just days after the state agency in charge of the state's medical marijuana program issued the first five dispensary licenses. Trulieve Georgia held grand openings Friday for dispensaries in Macon and Marietta.

Pilot Club celebrates 50th anniversary, charter members

Members of the Pilot Club of Jones County celebrated their 50th Anniversary with a reception including the recognition of five active members who were members when the chapter was chartered.

County works toward bulk water rate for city

Jones County Commissioners appear to be ready to make an offer to the city that has been discussed for decades. The City of Gray is and has been the county’s biggest water customer. An April 18 work session was held to discuss bulk water sales to the city.

Scouts bring tough questions to commissioners

Jones County Commissioners held a work session to answer questions for local Cub Scouts working on their merit badges. The April 18 work session was one of four held prior to the board’s regular business meeting.
