Members of the Gray Downtown Development Authority received a visit from the new superintendent for the Jones County School System at their February meeting.The Feb. 9 meeting was called to order by Chairman Sherri Rollins, and the opening prayer was led by DDA Member David Tufts.

Husband pleads guilty to vehicular homicide

The resolution to charges filed against a Forsyth man charged with vehicular homicide, following the death of his wife, took place in Jones County Superior Court last week, but he will live with the consequences of his actions for the remainder of his life.

Assessors to continue working with appraisal company

The Jones County Board of Tax Assessors voted to extend the contract with the appraisal services company performing the countywide revaluations at its February meeting.Prior to the Feb. 5 meeting, Jones County Superior Court Clerk Pam Dixon swore in the two board members whose terms expired Dec. 31.

City council rejects used car lot downtown

Gray’s City Council members denied a proposal to put a used car lot in downtown Gray and dealt with budget issues at their February business meeting.Mayor Ed Barbee called the Feb. 2 meeting to order. All council members were present.
The Gray Garden Club got 2026 off to a great start on Jan. 6, with an informative program entitled Native Plants in Georgia presented by Brandon Fountain, Naturalist at Jarrell Plantation Historic Site. The program included a slide show of Mr. Fountain’s photographs of native plants. CONTRIBUTED

The Kiwanis Club of Jones County recently donated $750 to the 4-H Club of Jones County. President Joe Briley made the donation on behalf of the club to Elizabeth Rossman, 4H Club Director. Ms. Rossman made an interesting presentation on all of the activities of our local 4-H Club. The Jones County Kiwanis club has been continuously supporting the Jones County community and specifically children since 1935. CONTRIBUTED
