Duke has continued volunteer work in retirement

Frank Duke has been retired for more than 25 years, but he has not stopped trying to do his part to help his community in a variety of ways.A Georgia Power retiree, Duke, 82, had to go to work early in life. His dad died in 1954 at the age of 54.

The ribbon cutting for Willoway Preschool is celebrated by the Jones County/Gray Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Gray Sept. 24 at its location at 133 Bill Conn Parkway. Executive Director Ashley Williams is surrounded by staff and chamber members as she cuts the ribbon. The city’s September committee meeting started with a public hearing for the city of Gray’s 2026 budget.With no questions about the budget, the public hearing was adjourned. Approval of the city’s 2026 budget and millage rate will be on the Oct. 6 meeting agenda.
