The October meeting of the Jones County Board of Education began on a high note with the report of a good showing of the district following the release of information from the Office of Federal Programs.The report listed at least one school in the district on the distinguished school list.

Shooter arrested; victim released from hospital

An ongoing feud between a shooter and victim appears to be at the root of a shooting that took place last week in Jones County.Kenneth Don Kitchens Jr., 30, was arrested Oct. 16 and charged with one count of aggravated assault.
