Charles G. Washburn Jr. is the local veteran of the week. He enlisted in the Army Air Force in November of 1942. After attending various AAF schools, he graduated as an engineer and top turret gunner and achieved the rank of technical sergeant.He flew 25 missions over Germany and other places.
