Grand jury indicts all 23 cases presented

Charges include aggravated assault, fraud and molestationJones County’s Grand Jury met last week and considered a total of 23 bills of indictment with all 23 of the bills determined to be true bills. That means those charges will go forward to Superior Court.

Bridging Monticello, a non-profit civic group, has a week of fun-filled activities planned for April 12-19, beginning this Saturday with the Spring Tour of Homes, including the Monticello Garden Club’s annual flower show, and ending with a festival April 19 in downtown Monticello.

The Jones County Board of Tax Assessors held its monthly meeting last week and continued to on the path of putting the tax assessor office and county’s tax digest in order.The April 3 meeting was called to order by JCBTA Chairman Leigh Stanford.

Myrtice Marie Thomas is the local veteran of the week. She achieved the rank of sergeant first class (E7) and retired after 23 years of service in the U.S. Army. Her primary specialty was operating room SP; she served throughout Europe and Asia.
