Allen Tabor is the local veteran of the week. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945. He completed his basic training at Camp Wheeler in Macon, after which he was assigned to the 34th Infantry Division and was deployed to North Africa.

Georgia State Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Richard Woods has been instrumental in recognizing and supporting outstanding teachers of excellence in Georgia schools. He made a special trip to Jones County High School March 19 to recognize Windy Armona, who was one of his former students.
