Jacqueline Barnes Kitchens, 88, of Jones County, passed away Sunday, Aug. 2, 2026.
Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, at Hart’s Mortuary, Jones County Chapel. The Reverend Butch Mullis officiated.
The family greeted friends one hour prior to the service. Burial followed the service at Middle Georgia Memory Gardens.
Jacqueline was born Oct. 23, 1937, to the late Wilbur Omand Barnes and the late Margaret Louise Gunter in Macon, GA. She was a successful businesswoman owning a catering business for many years, her passion was baking cakes; she was also a prolific songwriter and singer. Jacqueline was a longtime member of Greenwood Baptist Church, where her faith was an important part of her life. Of all the blessings she enjoyed, none brought her greater happiness than her grandchildren. She loved spending time with them, and the memories they created together will be forever cherished by those who knew and loved her.
Jacqueline is survived by her children; Cheryl Bentley of Georgetown, Kentucky; son, Donnie Kitchens (Tammy) of Ivey, GA; grandchildren, Donna Alsop (Corey), John Bentley (Courtnie), Joshua Kitchens (Steven McGinty), Cody Kitchens (Misty), Seth Kitchens (Madison), Miranda Sosebee (Nick), Angie Kitchens, and Cheyenne Brantley (DJ); and fifteen great-great grandchildren, and many friends. In addition to her parents, Jacqueline is preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Franklin Augustus “Frankie” Kitchens, her son, Randy Kitchens, her brother, Allen Barnes.
