Chancey, Lady Hounds qualify for state

    Both as individuals and as a team, Jones County’s golf team has qualified for the state tournament.

    By way of their performances at last week’s area tournament, Ethan Chancey qualified for the state tournament as an individual with the Lady Greyhounds finishing second in the 13-team area tournament to qualify for state. By way of their performances, both Chancey and the Lady Greyhounds can bypass sections and have automatically qualified for the GHSA Class AAAAA state tournament which will be May 16-17 at Okefenokee Country Club in Ware County.

    Chancey’s round of 81 qualified him for the state tourney. The Lady Greyhounds not only finishing second in the area with an overall score of 291, but also had the best score of any team in the region. Keegan Goins led JCHS with a round of 92 ahead of Kimber Kent’s 97, Emilee Lanford’s 102, Kayla Bonner’s 112 and Sam Utley’s 121.
