As the basketball season went on, Matthew Wold went from usually being the first player off the bench and sparking the Greyhounds to stepping up in a greater role when needed.
Coaches on the collegiate level appeared to take notice.
Wold recently signed a national letter of intent to play basketball for Denmark Tech, a Division I JUCO program located Denmark, SC. The school is one of 36 in region 10, which is made up of teams in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.
Wold was frequently singled out for helping to set the tone in the paint for the Greyhounds in addition to going to extra mile through effort, grit and hustle by Greyhounds head coach Buck Harris.
“Matt was a great asset to our team; he was the ultimate warrior,” Harris said. “He did all the little things that help a team win. I wish I had him for another year. He will only get better as he continues to play this game.”
Wold’s 72 percent field goal percentage actually led the Greyhounds with his 3.3 rebounds per game and 6.3 points per game also ranking him among the team leaders.
