Another Lady Greyhound is bound to continue her career at the collegiate level.
Kayla Bonner, primarily a third baseman for the Lady Greyhounds softball program for their 2020 state title and Elite 8 appearance last year and part of the Lady Hounds golf team that placed in the top 10 last week, recently signed a scholarship with Savannah State.
The Tigers went 13-18 this past season and compete in the SIAC, which includes Albany State and Fort Valley State. They finished third in their division this past season and advanced to the SIAC tournament, their first postseason bid since 2018 and first since the school rejoined Division II and the SIAC.
Bonner becomes the third Lady Greyhound to sign on to play in college from this year’s senior class, joining Georgia-bound Destin Howard and Kate Cole at Columbia College
Bonner will be part of a continued new era for the SSU program. New head coach Megan Griffith was hired in February as the program’s fifth head coach in school history following a 14-year run by Jose Gonzalez.
