Baseball teams compete in district tourney
Jones County came up one game shy of the sectionals in the Rookie Division while falling short by a run in its second game in the Sandlot Division. BRAD HARRISON/Staff
District play began last week for local baseball all-star teams, with both striving for not only a district title but also a berth in state sectionals.
In the Little League Baseball Rookie Tournament, Jones County went 2-3, battling back in the loser’s bracket before ultimately coming up one game shy of advancing to sectionals in a 12-2 loss to Dudley on Sunday afternoon.
