George Edmond Cooper Jr.

Gray: George Edmond Cooper Jr., 59, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday evening, Dec.

8, 2022, with his sisters by his side. Funeral services were held at Gray Memorial Chapel, 4378 Gray Highway, Gray, on Dec. 17, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. John Haney and Chris Smarr officiated.

Burial was private in Cedar Ridge Cemetery.

George was an avid sports fan and loved watching Atlanta Braves, New York Yankees, New York Jets, Georgia Bulldogs with his mother.

George loved New York and was able to visit with his mother and father.

He even rented a limo to travel the business district and Times Square independently. George truly enjoyed bingo and would go with his mother and father. He loved playing the stock market and reading the Wall Street Journal. George loved going downtown to play the lottery with his nephews Shawn and Coty who he adored. His sister Cindy would always bring him snacks and he loved watching her play with her grandchildren.

George was very proud of his niece, Brandy and the loving mother she is with her children.

George was a kindhearted, loving, and giving Christian man.

George will be truly missed by his mother who loved him deeply and forever carry him in her heart. George was appreciative for his sister Diane for being his caregiver during his final months.

Georgia dog, Sammy always provided loving companionship.

George was born on August 28, 1963 in Aug. 28, 1963 - Dec. 8, 2022

Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

George became a member of Gray United Methodist Church while Brother Johnson was Pastor.

George felt blessed to be able to work at the church. George graduated form Jones County High School in 1982. As a child, George was the water boy for the Jones County High School football team under Coach Garrard.

George is reunited in Heaven with his father George Cooper whom he missed dearly. George was also preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Aaron Cooper; grandparents, George W. Cooper, Lucille Cooper, J.B. Parker and Belle Parker; nephew, Tony Gordon whom he loved to communicate with daily for hours on the phone.

George is survived by his mother, Shirley Cooper; sisters, Diane Gordon and Cindy (Patrick) Stovall; nephews, Shawn (Kathleen) Self, Coty Self and Tyler Stovall; niece, Brandy (Garrett Seiy) Hawkins; great nephews, Brayden, Eric, Waylon; and great nieces, Avree, Lilly and Rosaleigh.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in the memory of George Edmond Cooper Jr. to the Gray United Methodist Church, 117 South Jefferson Street, Gray, Georgia 31032.
