Susan Collins is the local veteran of the week. She served in the U.S. Marine Corps, doing her basic training at Parris Island, S.C. Then she was sent to Florida for communications and intelligence training.
Her first assignment was Guam, then Cuba; her final assignment was Spain. Her years of service were 1973-1985.
