Curtis Alan James

Curtis Alan James passed away on Tuesday evening, May 2, 2023, at Atrium Health Navicent surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.

A visitation for family and friends was held Saturday, May 6, 2023, Gray Memorial Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

A Memorial service was Sunday, May 7, 2023, 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of Gray Memorial with internment following in Gordon Cemetery with Brad Fowler and Pastor Carol Mora officiating.

Curtis was born on April 30, 1938, to the late William Ferrill James and Mildred Phobee Marsh.

Preceded in death also by his children Marsha James, Larenda James and brother, David James.

Curtis was with the Jones County Rescue and Fire Chief for station 6 for twenty-six years. He was a member of Sardis Church where he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher.

Curtis was a doting and loving granddaddy but loved his children and all his family.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of fifty-three years, Pat Jackson James, children, John (Gina) James and their children, Katie Whittington, and Zack James, Ann (Ricky) Hardee and their children, Derek Goad, Jennifer (Micheal) Pitts, and Michael Hardee, Amanda (Bill) Worthington and their children, Caleb, and Alana, Mandi (Shaun) Garey and their children, Graci, and Sayler. Greatgrandchildren, Jayden, Braylon, Kylie, Kade, McKenzie, Ava, and Harmoni. Sister, Cynthia (George) Null, and brother, Marshall (Linda) James.

The family has requested that all that have served with Chief James to sit as honorary pall bearers during the service.
