Gladys M. Pace, age 102, went to her Heavenly home on Sunday, August 27, 2023. Services were held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 1 at Clinton Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Smarr and Rev. Jason Dillard officiating. Burial was in Cedar Ridge Cemetery.
Gladys was born August 6, 1921, in Jones County. She was the daughter of the late Joe Miller and Roxie A. Miller. Gladys was a wonderful homemaker and loved working in her garden. While other mothers were hanging out by the pool, our mother was growing vegetables, canning, and freezing them for them and others. She was an amazing cook and will forever be known for her homemade biscuits, cornbread dressing and of course her banana pudding. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and taking care of them while parents worked. All of this done with a smile and lots of love. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.
On August 12, 1939, she married the love of her life the late Norris T. Pace with only $15.00 (and that being borrowed.)
More importantly, they lived the work ethics. God blessed her with a unique inner strength, the ability to find humor and candor in most thing. A sympathizing heart that felt for others joys and sorrows and the courage to refuse to allow life’s difficulties define or defeat her.
Gladys is survived by her children: Fay Pace Veal (Stephen) and William N. Pace, (Sandra); grandchildren: Thomas Veal (Treva), Scott Veal (Sheri), Lori Harwell (Chet) and Brian Keith Pace; great-grandchildren: Shane Veal, Matthew Veal, Emmaline Veal, Isabella Veal, Christopher Harwell, and Stevie Harwell; great great-granddaughter: Everly Veal; sister Josephine Haralson and by a brother: Grady “Bill” Miller.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Gray Methodist Church, 117 S.
