“Raise a Flag for Mayor Barbee” is a Facebook page created to give people who have been impacted by the mayor of Gray a means to reach out and show their support.
The absence of Mayor Ed Barbee has been felt by the community, where he routinely walked the streets of Gray, visited businesses and attended numerous government and organization meetings, all representing the city. Participating in the effort is simple for anyone who uses Facebook. Messages can be sent to the mayor on the page, and pictures uploaded to show support.

The page was created by Ed’s son Jason, who added a summary of what his father has been through since his battle with sepsis following a May 4 outpatient surgery.
The idea for the demonstrations of support for the mayor came from a friend, Chris Smarr, who thought of using flags because of the wellknown patriotism of the mayor.
She suggested the community display flags in his honor.
At this time, however, Ed is only out and about for doctor visits, which is where the idea of the Facebook page comes in. He can look at the Facebook page on his phone, wherever he is, at any time of the day.
For anyone who does not use Facebook, cards can be sent to the mayor at P.O. Box 443, Gray, GA 31032.
