Wayne Adam Carter, 74, of Eatonton, Georgia, passed away on Feb. 1, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on Aug. 4, 1949, in Macon, Georgia, to Charles Carter and Helen Sawyer Carter.

Wayne’s family received friends on Monday, Feb. 5, 2024, at Gray Memorial Chapel and Crematory from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A Celebration of Life followed at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. The interment took place at Bible Fellowship Church Cemetery, 190 Old Phoenix Rd NE, Eatonton, GA 31024, at 2:45 pm with Reverend Greg Thompson officiating.

Wayne, retired from Dixie Bearings, Inc., was also a self-employed pilot car service driver known by the handle “Rawhide.”

He had a passion for life, which included watching football, fishing, boating, grilling, and being on the water. Wayne cherished family volleyball games and the annual fireworks gathering at the lake. He was an avid gun collector and enjoyed traveling in his RV out west.

Surviving Wayne is his devoted wife of 54 years, Laverne Carter; his children, Jason Carter and April (Abel) Orona; and his grandchildren, Amber (Chasen) Smith, Alyssa Orona, Alex Orona, and Trinity Carter. Wayne is also survived by his siblings, Ann Carter Owen and Jimmy Carter, close cousins, Jo Nell Horne and Gary Carter, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Charles Carter and Helen Sawyer Carter, and his brother, Larry Carter.
